For this interim show I have decided to exhibition a few images from my google image still life series. I think that it is a good idea to focus my attention on one artist to keep some continuity running through the work. I felt that Matisse was the perfect candidate for this. Out of all the artists I had been selecting Matisse’s paintings had certain  illustrative qualities that really brought out a boldness in my replicas. Despite the added expression within is paintings the remain very representation and direct. Above are all the Matisse replicas that I have created so far, the two large images at the top are the most recent work. I feel that you can really tell how I have improved making these images. The disjointed nature of the images are becoming more and more subtle, I am adding slight drop shadows to smooth the image and concentrating more and more on selecting the right objects. I have taken the pressure off creating this work quickly and spending far longer searching for the particular images that are required. I think that this is certainly paying off.

I have elected to exhibit on with the Google Image Still Life series as I feel that so far these have been the most complete images. I also feel that they are the most suitable to exhibit. As apposed to some of the text work or internet art I have been creating. These images have a strong visual presence and I feel they could work very well against the backdrop of the link gallery. Of course this is quite and tight space and I'll have to be considerate of how my will fit in especially amongst others work. I feel this work is very adaptable and I have a variety of options in exhibiting. I really see this as a great opportunity to be able to experiment with the galley space and I can afford to push the boundaries. This is also a fairly quite time of the year in terms of being able to hire out what ever I might need from the AV store.

The first and most obvious options for this work would be to simply create a high quality print with a nice complementary frame and attach it to the wall. Although being a perfectly reasonable solution My one reservation with this is that these images work really well on a screen. Not only are they aesthetically suited to the screen I also feel that these images, that are products of the Internet and this digital space need to remain within the screen. The images are composed of pixels and data and I have only ever had a relationship with these digitally matched objects never with the physical.  Printing this work out would also reduce the images to be composed of CMYK ink as well as giving them a physical  in the gallery space.

The original images have been carefully crafted with the application of paint and I feel that my images need to remain trapped in the screen where they are composed of red green and blue pixels. With this notion I am hoping to create something that would feel more like a digital painting than a printed image.
